There's something living under our noses

by Aidan Chopra, Product Evangelist

May is Mustache Month at Google, and (as you can see above) members of the Boulder office did us proud. Over the course of several weeks, these guys made serious, relationship-affecting sacrifices to grow out their lip gerbils. As it was also a contest, the rest of the office voted on winners in three categories. The victors were: Alok, for Most Robust (second-row, middle); Adam, for Most Creative (second-row, third-from-left); and Geoff, for Best Effort (first-row, third-from-right).

If you'd care to vote on your favorite 'stache, please feel free to comment below. We'll give a Reader Award to whomever you pick.

  5. 6/25 anonymous above secretly longs for an office that actually has inter-office bullshit (aka FUN). These losers always try to ruin it for the rest of us! At least you guys have fun...that's all that matters!!! Please, keep it up!!!

  6. How could Nathan not get any props for a creative 'stache like that?? There's no fairness in this world...

  7. Nice to see another tech company embracing the 'stache. We did it at our company last year during the month of "Movember" and had about 60 participants, with about half staying til the end.

    Threadless has some great tshirts you can buy as awards, one is the Facial Hair Club For Men tee, and the other is "Bring it back", which just shows a 'stache on the shirt.

    Great stuff.

  8. Not sure if this is still going on. I would have likely voted for Geoff -- I sometimes like the underdog (haha). He was picked though, so I'll vote for Joe -- because he emulates a true mustache, a strong mustache that everyone else was trying to achieve :).

    "WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOUR NOSE IS SO IMPORTANT YOU'VE GOT TO UNDERLINE IT.?"

    It's a link. A usability thing. So people know it's clickable.

    Now what you guys need is change it a bit perhaps this may help:

    a#nose:link,visited {
    text-decoration: mustache;
    color: #00f;
    }
    a#nose:hover,active {
    text-decoration: mustache;
    color: #f00;
    }

  15. I like Nathan's, but as it isn't really a mustache, I like Joel - he has the full package of a mustache with creative extensions.

  18. Did these guys make a "moustache SU project" before growing them? What texture maps did they use? I need it for my cat's SU 3D model.
