Save some cash on SketchUp Pro

Instead of producing a late-night infomercial for SketchUp Pro (Buy two copies, get a free pocket protector), we decided to go a simpler route: Helen put together a promo code that knocks $100 US off the price of a new single-user Pro license (it's normally $495). European and UK customers save 20%, which works out to about the same thing.

Here's the catch: Chris designed the promo coupon into a LayOut 2 doc – you'll need to have LayOut 2 installed on your computer to open the file and read the coupon. If you haven't already, you can download a trial version of SketchUp Pro 7 (which includes LayOut 2) in order to open the file. Sneaky, no?

Once you've installed SketchUp Pro 7, you can download the promo coupon and see it in LayOut. Mosey on over to our online store to take advantage of the discount until June 19th of this year.

Update: If you can't open the LayOut file with the promo code because you've used up all 8 hours of SketchUp Pro trial time, here's a workaround.

The thing is, my eval is expired so how can I open it?

Not the smartest idea.

What about those of us who've already bought academic licences - how does the discount get applied then, I wonder?

Cheers

I've just noticed that the 'bargain' comes after the price increased from €331 to €381. Not nice, guys.

Just tried to apply the promo code on the purchase of the Sketchup 7 upgrade and it didn't work ;-(
Would have love SU7 even without the $5 difference ;-)

Hello there,
If you can't open the LayOut file with the promo code because you've used up all 8 hours of SketchUp Pro trial time, here's a workaround: http://download.sketchup.com/nonav/images/eblasts/expiring/123109/sketchupprocouponMAY09.pdf. This promo only applies to new single-user licenses.

Alan,
Can you please try this link and let us know if you can open the PDF?

I would also be helpful if fraudulent copies were more difficult to obtain.

I paid for my copy, yet I can get a fully functional copy from the local computer fair for a fiver.

Better than a 20% discount!

Is sketchup sales thinking that US, UK and EU are the only place who use the sketchup. This promotion should be given to all over the world instead of very few countries in the world.

Does the discount work for upgrading? I have SketchUp 6 Pro.

Hello Cipson,
We accept purchases online in three currencies: US dollars, British Pounds and Euros. However, you can purchase from anywhere in the world with this promotion, using one of these currencies.

Hello Cycloneweaver,
We're sorry, but we cannot offer retroactive discounts. This promotion is only valid on purchases that happened on/from blog post date (5/28/09) to the expiration date (6/15/09).

Hello Robin,
This promotion is only valid on new license purchases only. Upgrades can be purchased from our online store for $95: http://sketchup.google.com/store/

Has anyone had any positive experiences from this discount being offered?

I have purchased a full single user license during the promo period (a few days ago) but did not use the discount. Can I now have the discount applied to my purchase? Thanks.
