Google SketchUp 7 is now available in French, Italian, Spanish, and German

Google SketchUp 7 (free and Pro) in French, Italian, German and Spanish has arrived. Learn what's new in version 7!

For version 7, we decided to focus on three main areas: making SketchUp easier for new modelers, simplifying the process of model sharing and collaboration and adding more tools for SketchUp Pro customers. We made changes that makes everyone's life easier, and launched LayOut 2, a separate program that lets Pro users create detailed multi-page documents and presentations.

Here's some information on upgrading:
  • Installing SketchUp 7 on your computer won't affect SketchUp 6; you'll have access to both versions for as long as you like.
  • If you have a license for SketchUp Pro 6 and you'd like to upgrade to Pro 7, you can upgrade it through our online store (boutique en ligne, negozio online, Online-Shop, tienda online). The cost to upgrade each license is US$95, EU€72 or UK£62 and if you purchased a SketchUp Pro 6 license on or after August 1, 2009, the fee is waived as long as you upgrade before or on October 31, 2009.
  • If you purchased a SketchUp Pro license through one of our authorized resellers, please contact that reseller directly for upgrade terms.
What are you waiting for? Download a copy of Google SketchUp 7 in your language and give it a try. Happy sketching!

  1. There is a problem about french version : it's 7.0 no the new 7.1, and... we receive a message "thanks to download SketchUp 6..."

  2. I have just bought the Spanish version and the downloable file GoogleSketchUpProWES.exe is the English Version 7.0.11018!

  3. Christophe:
The message about SketchUp 6 on our website was incorrect, but the version you downloaded (7.0) is correct. 7.0 is available in French, Italian, German, Spanish, and English. 7.1 is only available in English at this time.

    Germán:
The version you downloaded (7.0.11018) is correct. All of our international SketchUp programs contain messages in both the advertised language and English. If SketchUp appears in English, it is because the Windows language preferences are not set to Spanish and English is being used as the default. To fix this, do the following:
    * If SketchUp is already running, please close it
    * Go to Control Panel...Regional and Language Options
    * On the Regional Options tab, using the drop-down menu, change your preference to something like Spanish (Spain)
    * Click Apply or OK
After starting SketchUp again, you will find that it is now in Spanish.

I hope these comments help both of you. Thank you for using Google SketchUp 7.

  5. Thank you Andrew,
I did not imagine that Sketchup was in both languages since there was no option in the interface to change between them (at least I could not find it).
    Now everything working and clear.
By the way, are you going to release 7.1 in Spanish soon?

  12. I do not think I have ever tried to use a more frustrating and less intuitive product than SketchUp 7.1
    Except, perhaps, Blender!
To begin with, all the tutorials on offer are two years old and do not relate to this version of the program. The tools are different. Inferencing seems to work differently, there is that (apparently) useless human figure, the training templates are about as transparent as mud and so on and on 'ad infinitum'.
I know it's a free download, but why is there not a lot more help availablr to those of us who do not have a PhD in Computer Geeking?

  13. This comments section looks like a captcha failure session.

This version of SketchUp Pro is working fine in English on Mac OSX 10.5.8 just fine so far, with a few plugins.

Hello! And i have an opposite problem!
I've downloaded version 7.1 and it's starts with russian-language interface, because my local settings (Vista Home) are set to Russia. But, i want to use it with ENGLISH interface! How can i do that? is there ani INI or CFG file? For example in GNUcash they doing like this - you can override windows local settings and start program in any avaible language. Way to change local setting to USA and back any time i ran SkechtUp is somewhat complicated and boring...
    Any Ideas, collegues?
